PHRM 743 Food as Medicine (BPE)

This course will explore the role of whole foods and dietary patterns as it pertains to disease prevention, management, and, possibly, disease reversal. This course will also evaluate evidence regarding the negative impact that certain types of foods, environmental exposures, and dietary patterns have on disease development and/or worsening. Students will learn how to integrate food-based strategies into healthcare practices while considering the challenges and implications of food access and production. This course is designed to empower future pharmacists with the knowledge to advocate for comprehensive lifestyle interventions, including nutritional guidance, that complement traditional medicine in supporting patient health.
