SE 311 Teaching Math for Special Populations
The conceptual framework, which supports the Teacher Education Program at Union University, is A Teacher-Student Dynamic of Sensitivity, Reflection, and Faith." Within this framework this course provides an exploration of the content, materials, and methods of mathematics with special attention given to meeting the needs of students with disabilities. An emphasis on the discovery of mathematics and the understanding of mathematics will be explored. Students will be encouraged to reflect upon best practices of teaching mathematics while maintaining a sensitivity to individual differences. The class will guide students into developing a model for effective teaching and management informed by Christian values and ethics.
